MIM Summer Dance Camps 2020

Proudly Supported By:

Get ready to move with Minds In Motion Summer Camp! Our acclaimed Minds In Motion program takes on new dimensions. Beyond exciting and challenging dancing, campers will look further into the world of dance. Each day of MIM summer camp is filled with dance, creative movement, music, and related arts and crafts, all led by exceptional teaching artists and musicians.

Join us for one or more of our sessions of camp this summer! Camps are open to all rising 5th, 6th, and 7th AND 8th graders. Come dance with us!

Update from the Minds In Motion Staff:

As of today, Friday May 29th, we will be cancelling our July camp session, however, we are making plans to adapt and move forward with programming in the month of August with significant changes put into place to be able to maintain appropriate social distancing, and cleaning precautions!  Rather than offer our traditional two week, full day camp (August 10-21, 9am-4pm) with a maximum of 32 dancers, we will now be offering six, half day, one week camps with a maximum of 15 people in the studio at a time. That number includes dancers and adults. Because we want to keep numbers low to keep everyone safe, we will create a first come, first serve waiting list if our sessions fill up quickly; and as the summer progresses and we learn more about safe group numbers, if we are allowed to open additional spaces in camp, we will let you know!

If you have danced with us over the summer before, you know that we put on a performance at the end of the camp session. While we are not able to gather all of our family and friends into the same studio space to perform for them this year, we are actively brainstorming ways to still have a culminating performance aspect to our camp. As we finalize our performance  ideas, we will keep you in the loop!

With the reduced camp time and length, we will also be reducing the tuition amount to $200. See the amended camp registration forms below. Even if you have already enrolled in camp, please take a moment to re-register so we have your new camp session preference on file, and we can make specific payment adjustments that fit your family’s needs. If you have already registered with our Full Tuition option, you will have the option to be refunded the amount you “overpaid”, or the option to donate that additional tuition amount to the Richmond Ballet to sponsor a financial aid student, or have that  money put toward craft supplies. If you have already registered with our Payment Plan option, the new registration form will have new payment amounts and dates spelled out for you. Or, if you have already registered with our Financial Aid option, you can re-submit your family’s form now knowing our lower camp tuition amount.

If you are unable to attend camp, the camp session you have selected does not fill to capacity, or if unforeseen circumstances arise and we need to cancel camp, you will be refunded your entire payment amount, including your $75 deposit.

We want to keep your dancers as safe as possible. Here are our building and studio strategies that are being discussed by our HR department and medical task force team for you to read over. As with all things surrounding Covid-19, these strategies are being considered with current knowledge we have surrounding the virus. As we learn more as a society, and with the advice of our medical team, we will update and adapt our protocols as needed and our final plans for the summer will be communicated to you closer to the camp.

While times are ever changing and uncertain, we hope to be able to provide a sense of community and (socially distanced) togetherness for our dancers. We miss seeing all of you, and hope to be able to dance together again safely and soon.

We appreciate any and all feedback you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, we want to make sure we can all move forward together in a positive manner as a team.
