IN THE NIGHT (ROBBINS/ CHOPIN)
October 11, 2018 marks what would have been the 100th birthday of iconic ballet and Broadway choreographer Jerome Robbins, and Richmond Ballet is thrilled to join ballet companies nationwide in celebrating his contributions to the world of dance. Robbins’ lilting In the Night features three contrasting sets of lovers who meet beneath the evening’s sky, all set to the music of Chopin played live by Joanne Kong.
A WORLD PREMIERE BY NICOLE HASKINS
Nicole Haskins, an accomplished choreographer and member of Smuin Contemporary American Ballet, was first introduced to Richmond audiences via her piece From My Life at the 2015 New Works Festival. Haskins was recognized for creating “movement in which the dancers looked completely natural and completely delighted – which in turn delighted their audience,” and her world premiere is anticipated to delight once again.
