Featuring over 1300 students from area schools, this joyful culminating performance is one of the signature events of the Richmond Ballet calendar each year. Alongside our professional company dancers, students will bring the story of The Gift to life, which follows a young boy and girl as they explore the gifts that nature can bring to the human world, and what may happen should mankind fail to preserve such precious gifts. Inspired by Doug Tallamy and his work in entomology, ecology and wildlife conservation, The Gift reminds us that we all possess the power to make a difference in the health of our planet. Take Home A Very Special Gift of Your Own!
This year, our MIM contributors and staff collaborated on The Gift, a collectible book now available for purchase! Text by Ecology in Motionchoreographer Chris Burnside and Education Director Cat Studdard, and beautifully illustrated by Jessica Mayes.
As an exploration of nature and how it works, presented through dialogue between two children and a few of the players on nature’s vast stage, The Gift  is perfect for all ages, children and adults alike!
