Chinese born, now Tulsa-based choreographer, Ma Cong returns to Richmond Ballet following the success of Ershter Vals, his 2010-11 contribution to Studio One, to create a fresh new piece for the company and audiences. Cong's choreography is partnered with authentic human emotion and experience that he weaves closely into the dancing. Joining the world premiere is the beautiful La Belle Danse by Jessica Lang. Danced to Renaissance and Baroque music by Handel, Desprez, Mozart and Corelli, La Belle Danse features movement that joyfully plays with the ornate dance style of those eras. The pairing of these two works in the Richmond Ballet Studio Theatre is sure to be an evening of dance equally as moving as it is beautiful.
