Richmond Ballet Studio Theatre

Richmond Ballet is located at 407 East Canal Street in downtown Richmond, just off the Downtown Expressway, near Brown's Island, the Canal Walk, and the James River. Our facilities are housed in the large gray building found on the south side of East Canal Street between 5th and 4th Streets.

Parking: During Studio Theatre performances parking is available on the street surrounding the Ballet building.

From the North Driving South On I-95
(from Henrico, Hanover, Northern VA, Washington, and points north)

• Take Exit 74-A (VA-195/Downtown Expressway). This is a toll road.
• Keep right at the fork, follow signs for US-60/Canal St and merge onto E Canal St. This is a partial toll road.
• Richmond Ballet will be approximately 5-6 blocks ahead on the left, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

From the West, Driving East On I-64
(from the far West End and Charlottesville)

• I-64 will merge with I-95 South. Follow directions above.

OR


• From I-64, take Exit 186 for Interstate 195 S/Laburnum Ave toward Powhite Pkwy.
• Keep left at the fork, follow signs for I-195 S/Powhite Pkwy/Downtown and merge onto I-195 S.
• Slight right onto VA-195 E. This is a partial toll road.
• Exit onto S 7th St.
• Turn left onto E Canal St.
• Richmond Ballet will be approximately 2-3 blocks ahead on the left, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

From the South, Driving North On I-95
from Chesterfield, Tri-Cities, Eastern North Carolina and points south)

• Take Exit 74-A (I-195 N/Downtown Expressway). This is a toll road.
• Keep right at the fork, follow signs for US-60/Canal St and merge onto E Canal St. This is a partial toll road.
• Richmond Ballet will be approximately 5-6 blocks ahead on the left, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

From the East, Driving West On I-64
(from the airport, Norfolk, VA Beach)

• Take Exit 190 on the left to merge onto N 5th St toward Downtown/Coliseum/I-95 S/Petersburg
• Slight left to merge onto I-95 S toward Petersburg.
• Take Exit 74A for VA-195/Downtown Expressway. This is a toll road.
• Keep right at the fork, follow signs for US-60/Canal St and merge onto E Canal St. This is a partial toll road.
• Richmond Ballet will be approximately 5-6 blocks ahead on the left, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

OR


• Approaching downtown, get in MIDDLE lane. Follow the signs for the 5th Street/Downtown exit.
• Stay on 5th Street, passing the Coliseum and the Convention Center, and cross over Broad Street.
• Go five more blocks. Turn right on Canal Street. You will be immediately in front of Richmond Ballet, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

From the Fan & Near West End

• Drive downtown using Broad, Franklin, or Cary Streets. Turn right on 5th Street.
• Stay on 5th Street, going five blocks from Broad, three blocks from Franklin, or one block from Cary.
• Turn right on Canal Street. You will be immediately in front of Richmond Ballet, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

OR


• Take your favorite route to VA-76 North (Powhite Parkway). Tolls will vary depending on where you get on the Powhite.
• After crossing the James River, bear right, following signs for the Downtown Expressway. This is a toll road.
• Take 2nd exit, for 2nd Street & Byrd Avenue. Stay on Byrd for 3 blocks.
• Turn left on 5th Street, then the next left on Canal. You will be immediately in front of Richmond Ballet, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

From the Southwest
(from South Side Richmond, Bon Air, Brandermill, Danville, Western NC)

• Take your favorite route to VA-76 North (Powhite Parkway). Tolls will vary depending on where you get on the Powhite.
• After crossing the James River, bear right, following signs for the Downtown Expressway. This is a toll road.
• Take 2nd exit, for 2nd Street & Byrd Avenue. Stay on Byrd for 3 blocks.
• Turn left on 5th Street, then the next left on Canal. You will be immediately in front of Richmond Ballet, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

• Take your favorite route to the Lee Bridge.
• Immediately after crossing the James River, take exit for 2nd Street.
• Go to first light, and turn right on Byrd Street. Stay on Byrd for 3 blocks.
• Turn left on 5th Street, then the next left on Canal. You will be immediately in front of Richmond Ballet, on Canal between 5th and 4th Streets.

From the Southwest (South Richmond, Bon Air, Brandermill)

Take Route 76 N/Powhite Parkway. Tolls will vary depending on where you get on the Powhite. After crossing the James River, bear right, following signs for the Downtown Expressway. This is a toll road. Take the 7th Street exit toward US-60/9th Street. Turn left at 7th Street. Turn left at East Grace Street.

From the South, driving north on I-95 (Chesterfield, Tri-Cities, and points south)

Take exit 74C to merge onto East Broad Street toward US-250/US-33. Turn left at 8th Street. Turn right at East Grace Street.

From the East, driving west on I-64 (from the airport, Williamsburg and points east)

Approaching downtown, take exit 190 for I-95 toward Petersburg/5th Street. Stay right onto 5th Street. Turn left at East Broad Street. Turn right at 8th Street. Turn right at East Grace Street.

From the North, driving south on I-95 or from the West (from Henrico, Hanover, Northern VA, and points north or from the far West End and Charlottesville)

Take exit 74C to merge onto East Broad Street toward US-33/US250. Turn left at 8th Street. Turn right at East Grace Street.
