Education and outreach

Special message from Education and Minds In Motion Director, Brett Bonda:

Dear Parents and Friends:

Brett bondaThe Education Department of Richmond Ballet reaches out to the Richmond community on many levels. Lecture Demonstrations are presented by our professional company dancers at area elementary schools as well as other schools throughout the state of Virginia. Youth Performances are designed to inspire the youth of Richmond, from elementary age to high school. These students are invited to attend a special professional performance, exposing them to the arts by providing an opportunity to see a major production on the main stage.

However, the most extensive of Richmond Ballet’s outreach programs is Minds In Motion.  Now in its 15th year, operating in 20 schools with over 1,400 kids involved, the program is thriving.  Additionally, Minds In Motion has developed three successful performance groups, Team XL, Team XL2 and Team XXL, for students who show extraordinary potential. The program, offered free of charge, has also enabled students to transition to classes at the School of Richmond Ballet and have the opportunity to participate in Richmond Ballet’s magical production of The Nutcracker.  Through these education programs Richmond Ballet strives to instill an appreciation for the arts in our youth and inspire the artists of tomorrow.

Best Wishes,

Brett Bonda
