  Welcome to Minds In Motion!   Richmond Ballet’s Minds In Motion (MIM) program has kicked off its first week of the year in Richmond with a bang. 1,415 students were taught, in 59 classes throughout the course of the week, their very first Minds In Motion class. Minds In Motion Team XXL works with guest instructor Chris Burnside

On the first day of Team XXL, our 5th through 8th graders met with a special guest instructor, Chris Burnside. Chris Burnside began his dance training in Richmond, Virginia with Frances Wessells. As a dancer, he was a member of the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company in Los Angeles and performed with Tim Miller, John Bernd, Jane comfort, and Johanna Boyce in New York City. Richmond Ballet Minds In Motion Team XXL performed at the third annual RVA Fireworks on the James with SPARC and the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra. This FREE performance took place on Brown’s Island and was generously sponsored by Dominion and MeadWestvaco. MINDS IN MOTION- CELEBRATE CHARLOTTESVILLE!

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA-  Hot on the heels of Charlottesville’s 250th Anniversary, Minds In Motion students presented Celebrate Charlottesville! All fourth graders from the six Charlottesville City Elementary schools jumped into the history of their city. They returned to the time of the Monocan Indians, hunting along the Rivanna River. The first grid of the city was laid out in the same place as today’s famous Downtown Mall. Of course Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe made an appearance.
