“To me, it’s like breathing,” says Ballet Master Jerri Kumery, when talking about Salvatore Aiello’s The Rite of Spring. Kumery, who is lovingly setting Aiello’s masterful interpretation of The Rite of Spring for Richmond Ballet’s 30th Anniversary performance, is proud and honored to bring her unique perspective on this powerful ballet to Richmond.   Welcome to Minds In Motion!   Richmond Ballet’s Minds In Motion (MIM) program has kicked off its first week of the year in Richmond with a bang. 1,415 students were taught, in 59 classes throughout the course of the week, their very first Minds In Motion class. Phoenix Rising Comes to Life

  Rehearsals for Philip Neal’s new ballet, Phoenix Rising, are well underway. Minds In Motion Team XXL works with guest instructor Chris Burnside

On the first day of Team XXL, our 5th through 8th graders met with a special guest instructor, Chris Burnside. Chris Burnside began his dance training in Richmond, Virginia with Frances Wessells. As a dancer, he was a member of the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company in Los Angeles and performed with Tim Miller, John Bernd, Jane comfort, and Johanna Boyce in New York City.
